= Canoe Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2011, Horse Heaven Hills, Washington State =

This 10 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State is a nice surprise. Doesn't show its age at all, at this point

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity

Dry on the palate and good with food

After a couple of hours of airtime it shows, red and black fruits with earth, wood, spices, peppercorn, bell pepper, vegetables, herbs, graphite and black coffee

Nice finish with round tannins and tangy pomegranates

A little off balance, but has nice structure with a nice mouthfeel

I've had it before, but at a younger age. Now it feels like a California Merlot, actually. Very interesting to try these kind of wines

I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses

in French oak barrels (30% new)

13.9% alcohol by volume

Really cool seeing this on here, I grew up with the Horse Heaven Hills overlooking my hometown! I remember driving over them to go work in the cherry fields an hour away when I was 14, summer 2012, right before I became a sophomore. Great memories. I’ll have to get some of their wine soon
