Howdy! I work with "high risk" students, I help them get to and through college. I've always thought you'd make a great role model. You're intelligent and hardworking; most of all you are someone they can relate to. What are your thoughts on philanthropy and mentoring?
One time I heard you say “Underrated in the game like Mark Ruffalo.” I love Mark Ruffalo. Who else do you think is underrated in the game?
Hey Hima- really excited for your new mixtape to drop, the tracks you've released so far have been great

I wanted to ask you about the transition between DR's first two mixtapes and your first album, Relax. Part of what made me and a lot of others fall in love with you guys were your playful, inclusive attitude on your first two releases. The mixtapes were like you inviting us to just hang out, sit on your couch and drink some beer (just like the scenes on your covers depict)

However, it seems to me like something happened between these mixtapes and Relax, because this same attitude is nowhere near as prevalent on Relax.even the couch that we were all hanging out on the mixtapes' cover is now being burned behind you as you stand expressionless on the new cover. Lines like "when you see me in the street, don't bother me" hardly encourage this inclusive attitude in your first mixtapes

So my question is, what happened? Was this an intentional shift away from inclusivity? I'm not trying to attack you guys, It's pretty understandable closing down a party if too many wack kids show up, I guess I'm just curious as to why you did this, or if it was just a natural reaction to your increased popularity and fame? Or, maybe I'm just reading into this way too much and this is an awful question

Especially with your excellent Nehru Jackets and Vic's 51 that both were so much closer to that inclusive ideal, Relax seems like an anomaly from the DR crew

It wasn't an intentional shift away from including fans. I wanted fans to like it. That's usually the way creating things goes. Although part of it might have been like you said, "closing down a party if too many wack kids show up". Most of it was probably being tired from 2 albums in one year and then a year with a show every other day. Victor and Dap and I were friends getting to know one another and you guys were invited. Then we got to know each other and began writing more for us than each other's amusement. I assume that's what the divide became. Then with me putting the record out on my label and getting all the beats from friends, same as the first two records, it became too much of me putting myself into the record instead of both of us collaborating. That said, I think one thing lost on people was the quality of sound on that record. I wanted to make somewhat pop music but heavily influenced by prog-rock and psychadelic rock and Indian music. I also think not being able to use samples most fans clung to in this odd way to me - like oh wow these rappers know who Billy Joel is? - prevented people from attaching themselves to the music in the way they did earlier. But what do I know?
Relax grew on me over time. But I agree it was a jarring turn. They went from an all inclusive sound to a more insular and aggressive tone. The wordplay is still there but never reaches the heights they achieve on tracks like rainbow in the dark and hahaha jk for example

My question: did you know relax was going to be devisive? Do you care? (Not saying you should, just curious)
