More info: I coated both sides with exterior stain, it's 'common board' so not cedar or redwood. It gets morning sun and will mostly be out of the rain. I know polyurethane will make it harder to restain but I'm concerned about water from glasses or splashing from watering plants that I'll have on it

Going to do a matching cladding to the couch which will get a bit more rain on one side
