## Shaun Davey, Irish composer
Shaun Davey is an Irish Composer with wide experience in Theatre, Film and Concert music. In an international career spanning over 40 years his music has received an Ivor Novello Award and two BAFTA nominations . In Theatre he has worked in the UK and USA, his scores recognised by New York Critics and San Diego Critics awards and Tony and Drama Desk nominations. In his Concert music his individual and determinedly melodic approach often explores commonalities between musicians of aural and classical traditions, for example The Brendan Voyage (1980). This suite for Uilleann pipes and Orchestra was the first of its kind; it led to many collaborations, in particular with his wife, singer Rita Connolly and with the late Liam O'Flynn, and concerts around the world. At home his music has featured regularly on the Irish schools carriculum, and his setting of St Patrick's Prayer, The Deer's Cry has been performed at both a presidetial inauguration and for the visit of Pope Francis to Dublin. This year his Granuaile Suite and The Brendan Voyage featured in the St Patrick's Day celebration concert with the National Symphony Orchestra. The premiere of 'Refuge, Concerto for Cello and Orchestra' will be performed by Sinéad O'Halloran, with the NSO conducted by David Brophy, at the at the National Concert Hall, Dublin on 17th March, 2023
