Construction management: estimator, project manager or engineer, field engineer, quality assurance technician, safety manager, director of field operations
Government agency: surveying technician, inspector, engineering technician, director of public utilities

Supplier: estimator, applications engineer, product manager, sales engineer, design project coordinator, product specialist

April Smucker, ’01, went to work in construction management for Toledo’s Lathrop Company after graduation. She moved to Kingston Healthcare in 2005 as a project manager. She then became director of facilities and construction for the assisted living and rehabilitation company. April became the administrative director of construction in 2016 for ProMedica, a Toledo-area hospital and health care organization, as it began to invest nearly $500 million into new projects in northwest Ohio

Steve Sieracke, ’06, earned his MBA in 2008 from UT. Steve worked for Miller Brothers Construction and rose through the ranks from project manager to vice president. He eventually became president of the Black Swamp Steel Company, a subsidiary of MBC Holdings. Steve has taught classes in the CET program, and is the lead industrial adviser of the OCA Student Cost Estimating team

Dave Faber, ’02, served as engineering services director in Dundee, Mich.. He was hired as the city manager in Sandusky, Mich., in 2011. Dave was named the state’s City Manager of Year by the Michigan Rural Water Association in 2016

Sustainable Design & Construction — an in-depth look at LEED and green building criteria. It’s great preparation for becoming a certified LEED Green Associate. Many employers look for this designation

Materials Testing — Students in this class study and test for the American Concrete Institute Level 1 Concrete Testing Technician certification. This gives them an advantage when applying for internships

Surveying Applications — Goes beyond basic surveying courses offered by similar programs by focusing on construction layout and topographic collection methods

Construction Graphics — Offers students exposure to site and highway design using Bentley's MicroStation and InRoads modeling software

Architectural CAD — Takes an in-depth look at 3D building modeling and plan preparation using the Autodesk Revit platform
